The daily operation record of the reverse osmosis system is the main basis for judging whether the system is polluted and the correct cleaning method is adopted after the pollution.
The management of reverse osmosis system needs to pay attention to data recording.
When cleaning, it must be cleaned in accordance with the cleaning rules of the reverse osmosis membrane system.
Symptoms and cleaning of microbial contamination
Microbial contamination usually occurs during the shutdown of the reverse osmosis system. In a reverse osmosis system that uses surface water, reclaimed water (tertiary wastewater), sea water, etc. as the water source, microbial contamination is usually accompanied by organic pollution. Biological contamination should be cleaned in time at the initial stage. Once a biofilm is formed, it is very difficult to clean, and only the membrane element must be replaced.
Recommendation: Use anti-oxidant membrane elements for systems that are prone to microbial contamination, and create a sterile system by adding NaCLO and other fungicides into the water into the membrane elements, and there will be no microbial contamination.

1. Symptoms of microbial contamination
A. Pollution occurs in all sections, and the pressure difference between the first and second sections increases rapidly;
B. Decrease in water production;
C. The conductivity of the produced water is basically unchanged;
D. The main symptom is increased pressure difference.

2. When microbial contamination occurs, it can be cleaned according to the following formula:
| Main pollutants | Recommended cleaning fluid | Remark |
| Microorganism | 0.1% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) + 0.025% sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (Na-DDBS) | Preferably, clean with (NaOH) and (Na-DDBS), PH=12, maximum temperature 30℃ |
| 0.1% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) | Preferably, clean with (NaOH) , PH=12, maximum temperature 30℃ | |
| 2.0% sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) + 0.025% sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (Na-DDBS) | Preferably, clean with (Na5P3O10) (Na-DDBS), PH=10, maximum temperature 30℃ |
After the chemical cleaning of the reverse osmosis membrane system with microbial contamination, the system needs to be disinfected to improve the pretreatment to prevent microbial contamination.
